Christmas in Bulgaria

The fundraising photo exhibit eyes.of.grief turned out really successful. Thanks to the kind contributors, I was able to raise $1047 for the orphans from Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov orphanage, Haskovo, Bulgaria. I donated it to the children in the form of presents when I went to visit them over Christmas break. The condition of the orphanage required a thoughtful decision on how to spend the money, so that it would be of the greatest benefit to the daily life of the orphans. After a careful discussion with the staff and the principal of the orphanage, we decided to purchase microwave ovens, heaters, DVD players, vacuum cleaners, hair-dryers, and other appliances that can be used by the kids in their daily needs. The money raised was also essential in the preparation of the Christmas celebration that took place on December 23. The orphans enjoyed a beautiful Christmas tree and performed their show in a room decorated with the help of the funds raised during the exhibit.
